Freestyle Machine Embroidery

This has got to be one of the best machine embroidery books I have come across. I know it’s expensive, but it’s a big book and is very well done – and you get what you pay for.

Carol Shinn specializes in photograph-like pieces, which are not quite my ‘thing’, but when you read the information, look at the techniques and descriptions, you’ll realise, like I did, that you’ll get huge value from this book no matter style you choose to work in.

Carol covers things like: working with dissolvable films and fabrics, edges, attaching decorative elements, planning, colour and stitch variations … and on and on.  Another thing I really liked was the gallery of work from other artists – truly inspiring and very interesting to see what they do and how they do it.
